This solid oak table is a superb genuine Victorian antique (circa 1870) designed and patented by Joseph Fitter of "Britannia Works", Cheapside, Birmingham. The oak table has a unique "screw expander" that employs a crank to open the table to insert a leaf to increase the size of the table. The table can be used without the leaf to sit 4 people or with the leaf to sit 6. The top of the table has been stained with a gel stain in 'candlelight' and the legs have been painted in antique white. The chairs are made of beech and have also been painted in antique white to match the legs of the table. The dimensions of the table are height 70cm (27.5"), width 107cm (3ft 42"), length without leaf 117cm (3ft 6") and with leaf 153cm (5ft).
